DENI SHOCKER: All but two ex-senators axed in new Senate race list

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GAROWE: Puntland President Abdullahi Deni has released candidates for all the 11 senate seats locking out a record nine former senators among them ex-prime minister Abdirashid Sharmarke.

Out of the 11 seats, three will be contested by women only in line with the 30% women quota aspiration making the easterly state with the most number of candidates so far. Each seat will be contested by two candidates.

Besides Sharmake, the following senators did not make to the final list:

  1. Abdirizak Osman Jurile
  2. Mohamud Mashruuh
  3. Shukri Adan
  4. Abdisalan Haji Mohamud
  5. Sahido Hassan Osman
  6. Mahdi Sheikh Nuur
  7. Hodan Mohamud Osman

Only two former senators made a come back:

  1. Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud (Faroole)
  2. Farhan Ali Hussein
