Two political associations strike coalition deal to counter Deni’s KAAH in Puntland
GOOBJOOG NEWS|PUNTLAND: Two political associations in Puntland have announced a coalition following the recently concluded district elections.
Mideeye and Justice and Equality political associations announced Wednesday they were forming a coalition ahead of the composition of the district councils and in preparations for the state-wide district council elections. The two have been associated with outgoing President Mohamed Farmaajo.
The coalition is expected to counter KAAH association headed by President Abdullahi Deni which secured majority of the seats in the three district councils.
Final results released by the Transitional Puntland Elections Commission (TPEC) indicate KAAH has secured a lead in the three districts of Qardho, Eyl and Ufeyn where the pilot poll was conducted.
KAAH got a total of 35 seats out of the 87 seats up for grabs while Mideye came second with 25. Justice and Equality bagged 20 seats.
