Disagreement sparked between Galkaayo Mayor and the town councils over mismanagement and lack of cooperation with the council.

The councillors have accused the mayor mismanagement and embezzlement.

Abdirashid Artan a prominent elderin Galkaayo has told Goobjoog News that the mayor has allegedly diverted local government funds to personal use.

“tax-mismanaged funds has led the disagreement between the councillors and the mayor, public fund cannot be used for personal purpose” he said.

Attempts to reach the mayor for comment on the allegations said the councillors have bored no fruits.
