Election security meeting held in Barawe

GOOBJOOG NEWS/BARAWE: A meeting to discuss the general security of Barawe and the security of the upcoming elections has been held in Barawe.
The meeting chaired by the Speaker of the South West State of Somalia, Dr. Ali Said Faqi, was attended by officers drawn from the Armed Forces, the Police, the Security Forces, the KGS, and AMISOM.
Plans to ensure the security of the town and polling stations were discussed since Barawe, a former Al-Shabaab stronghold in the Lower Shabelle region under Southwest State, is at high risk especially during elections.
The city of Barawe will soon hold parliamentary elections as scheduled by the South West electoral body and yesterday, the Somali Government deployed police and military forces to the town to beef up security ahead of 13 Lower House seats elections in the town.
