Eritrea’s President Isaias Afwerki is today hosting leaders of Ethiopia and Somalia for a tripartite summit in the capital, Asmara following resumption of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The information Minister of Eritrea Yemane Meskel confirmed the meeting noting PM Abiy had already arrived in the Red Sea nation.

“The President of the Republic of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, will arrive in Asmara later today for a tripartite Summit with President Isaias Afwerki and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed,” Meskel said in a tweet.

Both Somalia and Ethiopia restored diplomatic relations in August which saw leaders of the three countries visit each other’s capital.

President Farmaajo is expected to fly into Asmara from China where he has been attending the China-Africa Forum.
