GOOBJOOG NEWS|LOWER JUBA: Fighting broke out Wednesday morning between federal forces and soldiers from the Jubaland state amid faltering relations between Mogadishu and Kismayo.

Sources said the two sides clashed in Manaraani area located between the strategic town of Ras Kamboni and Burgaabo in Somalia’s southern tip.

According to multiple sources, soldiers from both sides have died while others sustained injuries. Military vehicles were also set alight in the deadly clash.

There was no comment yet from the Federal Government of the Jubaland administration. The Federal Government deployed soldiers in Ras Kamboni late last month amid souring relations with Jubaland following the re-election of Ahmed Madobe.

Several soldiers allied to Jubaland defected to the government side last week. The Federal Government has rejected the controversial election of Madobe and called for his arrest and prosecution.
