Fighting breaks out in Bacda area, Hiran region

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HIRAN: Reports from Hiran region say that fighting broke out last night between Al-Shabaab militants and the Ma’awiisley militia in Bacda area of ​​Mataban district in Hiran region. 

The Ma’awiisley militia, reportedly backed by the Somali National Army troops, staged an attack on an Al-Shabaab base in Bacda area of ​​Mataban district, resulting in deaths and injuries of members of the terrorist group.

Speaking to the media, Mataban deputy district commissioner for security and politics Duale Aden Garase confirmed that fierce fighting took place between Al-Shabaab and the Ma’awiisley forces, resulting in heavy losses to the Al-Shabaab camp.

Hassan Farah, who led the attack, said his team had successfully recovered several AK47 rifles from the group. 

Calm is said to have returned to the area this morning following last night’s intense fighting which took place between the Al-Qaeda-linked  group and the militia.
