Former Hiran education commissioner killed in Beletweyne

GOOBJOOG NEWS/BELETWEYNE: Former Hiran regional education commissioner Osman Muhumed Ato was assassinated Wednesday night in Beledweyne.

Witnesses said that Muhumed Ato was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Beletweyne’s Hawa Tako neighbourhood as he left the mosque after Tarawih prayers.

The assailants are said to have immediately fled the scene after killing the former Hiran official, with the motive of the killing still unclear as no one has yet claimed responsibility for the killing.

Osman Ato, who was removed from the post of education commissioner of Hiran region just three months ago, has been hailed by his acquaintances as an astute scholar in Hiran region.
