Four killed in clan violence in Bakool region
Four people including combatants killed and several others injured after clan militiamen clashed in deadly battle lasted two in Bakool region.
The militias were to have fought over the control of water well in Garasweyne village in Bakool region southern Somalia.
Hassan Adan, a resident of Garasweyne village said the fierce clashes left four people dead and scores wounded.
Adan said a ceasefire brokered by elders from the two clans has been established.
“This morning’s fighting has ceased, thanks to Allah,”said Adan, adding ”We are grateful for the intervention of traditional leaders who prevented meaningless bloodshed.”
Water, pasture and politics have been at the center of sporadic clashes between the two clans, who live in the region of Somalia.
