Garowe meeting kicks off

GAROWE, PUNTLAND: The much-awaited meeting between Federal and State government leaders has kicked off in Garowe, Puntland.

The meeting started this afternoon after it was delayed from last Thursday.

President Mohamed Farmaajo is chairing the meeting which brings together Federal Member State and Federal Government leaders. Leaders from Puntland, Jubbaland, South West Galmudug and HirShabelle state are attending the meeting.

Prime Minister Hassan Khaire and Banaadir Regional Administration Governor Abdirahman Yarisow are also part of the meeting.

The meeting is expected to continue tomorrow as leaders from the two levels of government deliberate on a range of issues. Some of the key issues expected to feature in the talks include resources sharing, political disputes between the two levels of government, implementation of National Security Plan and choice of the electoral formula for next year’s elections.
