GMG demands release of reporter arrested today
Goobjoog Media Group reporter Ali Adan Mumin was arrested this morning after notice by the Criminal Investigations Department that he presents himself.
Goobjoog Media Group (GMG) was however not informed of the charges against the journalist despite having been copied the letter calling for his presence at the CID headquarters.
GMG has since established from the kin of Mumin that he will be presented in court tomorrow (Wednesday). The law provides that suspects and their representatives ought to be notified of charges preferred by the police failure to which the arrest itself is tantamount to a violation of the law and any verdict thereof will be an affront to a fair process.
GMG management is, therefore, demanding Mumin’s release with immediate effect.
