Government soldier kills young man in Barawe

GOOBJOOG NEWS/BARAWE: Reports from the coastal city of Barawe in the lower Shabelle region say that a young man was shot to death by a federal government soldier.

According to witness accounts, the two got into an argument that later escalated into an altercation prompting the soldier to shoot the defenseless man on the upper torso, where he died on the spot.

The government soldier is said to have immediately fled the scene after killing the young man only identified as Mohamed Kenya.

Barawe Deputy Commissioner for Security and Politics Ismail Abdullahi Jadane, confirmed that the person who killed the young man was indeed a soldier well-known in the town, adding that investigations have already commenced to bring the culprit to book.
