Gov’t troops conduct security operation in Jowhar

Reports from Jowhar, Lower Shabelle region indicates Government forces launched security operation following heavy explosion occurred in the town last night.

The explosion which was landmine killed one person and left another five injured including a member of Hir-Shabelle parliament, Zakariya Mumin Hilowle that was rushed medical health for emergency treatment.

The resident said that the army was conducting operations around the area where the explosion hit near a football field that is popular with civilians. Security forces arrested a suspect in the operation and detained to Jowhar police station.

No group claimed the responsibility for the explosion but Al- Shabab was mainly known for search attacks.
