Hiiraan and Beletweyne police chiefs killed in clash with militias

Beletweyne and Hiiraan police commanders were killed this afternoon following a clash with militias allied to immediate former Hiiraan governor Yusuf Dabageed.

Goobjoog News correspondent in Jowhar says the two police chiefs were shot dead at a check-point in Kalabeyr area in Beletweyne.

Hiiraan police commander Mohamed Mahow Halane and his Beletweyne counterpart whose name could not immediately be established succumbed to the bullet wounds.

Dabageed was fired last week from his post.
