Hiiran rebel officials meets with Gudlawe, mends fences

Storyline:National News

GOOJOOG NEWS/JOWHAR: Hirshabelle State President Ali Gudlawe Hussein accompanied by his deputy, Yusuf Dabaged, today met with Colonel Nur Dheer, a rebel leader who vehemently opposed the Gudlawe presidency.

Just recently, Beletweyne experienced unrest after armed forces under the command of Dheere revolted against Gudlawe by taking control of several neighborhoods in the town in protest to the President’s visit to the area.

The conflict between the two escalated further when the militia led by Dheere calling itself “Hiiran salvation army” fired mortar shells at Beledweyne airport ahead of the HirShabelle leader’s visit – his first-ever visit to the town since he was elected president in November 2020.

The two factions decided to mend fences and Colonel Dheere pledged to work with the Hirshabelle administration for the good of Beletweyne and the entire state.
