Hir-Shabelle, South West cry foul over FIET’s decision to leave out MPs

GOOBJOOG NEWS/JOWHAR: Hir-Shabelle and South West states have lashed out that the federal elections boss Muse Yusuf for sticking out four MPs from the final list threatening to boycott the swearing of the lawmakers.

The HirShabelle administration opposed the move by the Federal Elections Implementation Team to exclude former NISA commander Fahad Yasin Haji Dahir from the list of newly elected members of parliament.

HirShabelle said that due process had been followed during the election of the seat and that no complaints had been raised so far by the community or from candidates who contested it. 

“Therefore, as the Chairman of the Commission has taken steps that are inconsistent with the terms and conditions of the election, the SEIT Committee in Hirshabelle will automatically submit the official list to the Secretaries of both Houses of the Federal Parliament,” read a statement from the Hirshabelle Administration.

“We warn the FEIT not to politicize the country’s electoral process, and to abide by the consensus of the National Consultative Council, to avoid anything that could delay the country’s general elections,” added the Hirshabelle administration.

In a similar vein, South West state president Abdiasis Lafta Gareen said the move to lock out three MPs by FIET violated the electoral rules noting all issues relating to electoral complaints were duly addressed.
