HirShabelle parliament to elect remaining two senators today

GOOBJOOG NEWS|JOWHAR: HirShabelle state is set to hold elections for the two remaining seats of the Upper House today in Jowhar town.
Two of the candidates stepped out of the senate race- HirShabelle’s Minister of Religious Affairs Abukar Maqaney and Mohamed Hassan Kulmiye. Kulmiye said he pulled out after studying the political climate and thanked his supporters for the support.
The two seats up for grabs today will be contested by Zamzam Abdullahi and Naimo Ibrahim with three other candidates expected to run for the second seat. They are Abdulkadir Hanafi, Abdalle Abdi Hussein and Ali Shabaan.
The elections will take place in the midst of a suicide attack Sunday night.
