HirShabelle President, Somali government condemn Al-Shabaab attack in Hiran region

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BELETWEYNE: HirShabelle president Ali Gudlawe Hussein has issued a statement concerning Friday night’s Al-Shabaab massacre of civilians in the area of Afar-Irdood, which resulted in the deaths of at least 20 people.

President Gudlawe expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, condemning in the strongest terms possible the heinous and despicable acts exhibited by the group.

Gudlawe pointed out that the terrorist group acted in response to a resounding defeat after local authorities, alongside government forces, managed to drive them from most parts of the Hiiraan region. He added that operations will be strengthened to liberate all areas from the terrorist organization.

 Meanwhile, the Somali government also issued a statement strongly condemning the attack. It reiterated its support for the local community and pledged to respond strongly to the brutal attack, warning that the terrorists would face the full consequences of their crime.
