Hirshabelle State President chairs security meeting in Beletweyne

GOOBJOOG NEWS/HIIRAN: Hirshabelle State President Ali Gudlawe Hussein on Monday held a security meeting with senior officials drawn from the Somali National Army and AMISOM in Beletweyne, Hiiran region.

The meeting came a day after the Hirshabelle Head of State landed for the first time in the region after numerous failed attempts since his election in November 2020.

Ali Gudlawe called on the security team to be on high alert and uphold and maintain the security and integrity of the parliamentary elections.

The president of Somalia’s regional state of Hirshabelle landed in Beletweyne Sunday, amid tension and gunfire, owing to sharp opposition from Hiiran region which has severally rejected his presidency.
