Hirshabelle to elect 6 MPs hours after deadly attack

GOOBJOOG NEWS/BELETWEYNE: The Hirshabelle polls body is set to hold elections for six seats in the 11th House of the People in Beletweyne today, Sunday.

One of the most controversial seats up for election include, seat HOP#86 currently eyed by ex-spy chief and also current national security advisor to President Farmaajo, Fahad Yassin.

Below are the seats up for contest in Beletweyne:

The first seat, HOP#008 held by Dr. Hussein Abdi, will today be contested by Mohamed Deek Bare Fiyoore and another candidate.

HOP#015 is currently held by the Deputy Minister of Women’s Affairs, Hiis Hassan Aden. Hiis Hassan Aden will be seeking to defend her seat today

HOP#074, currently occupied by former Deputy Minister of Defense Abdullahi Olad Roble, will be contested by Abdikarin Omar Hussein and another candidate.

HOP#086 held by Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir  for the last few years and today,  Fahad Yasin Haji Dahir is expected to win the seat.

HOP#109 currently held by the Deputy Minister of Defense Abdul Fatah Qasim. Abdiqifatah Qasim and another candidate will be battling out for the seat. Abdiqifatah is expected to win the seat.

HOP#274 is currently being held by Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan Nuh and Nuh is expected to defend his seat.
