Traders in Suuq Ba’aad Market in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu are counting losses after fire razed down dozen shops, destroying goods worth thousands of US dollars.
The fire is said to have been caused by an electric fault in a shop before spreading to adjacent other shops and reduced them to ashes.
“Saturday evening was initially suspected to have been lit by malicious people, but on doing some investigation, it appears to have been caused by an electric fault,” one of the traders said.
Finally Fire trucks from Hormud Telecom and regional Banadir administration have arrived and succeeded to extinguish the fire immediately.
This is the third time fire destroys immense properties in Somali capital, Mogadishu.
