IGAD special envoy to Somalia congratulates Puntland President Deni

The IGAD special envoy to Somalia Dr Mohamed Ali Guyo has congratulated the newly elected president of Puntland state Said Abdullahi Deni.

Dr Guyo also commends the government of Puntland state, the federal government of Somalia, traditional elders and the all other stakeholders for the orderly, peaceful and transparent conduct of the Puntland election.

The special envoy has also applauded the outgoing president of Puntland Abdweli Mohamed Ali Gas for his service to the region and indeed the whole country of Somalia.

The special envoy expressed confidence that the elected president of Puntland state will advance inclusive politics, peace and stability, economic development and consolidation of democracy in Puntland and beyond.

Dr Guyo also appealed to the elected president and all other leaders of Somalia to work together in uniting the country in the spirit of reconciliation and dialogue to help address political and socio-economic challenges facing the country.

The special envoy reaffirmed IGAD’S commitment to work with the incoming administration and build on the existing cooperation with the regional state for the benefit of the people in Puntland state and Somalia.
