IGAD welcomes Federal Gov’t and Regional Administrations Talks in Galmudug
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) held Conference supported the progress made by the Federal Government in ensuring the election of one person and one vote in line with international standards and urged all parties to participate in this historic process in Somalia.
According to a press release by the IGAD office, the Federal Government’s efforts to hold inclusive talks with the Federal Member States to achieve consensus, lasting peace and national unity in the country.
“We commend the ongoing negotiations between the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland, led by President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Prime Minister Abiye Ahmed, and look forward to receiving reports on the progress of the technical committees in the negotiations on a lasting solution”.Said in a statement released by IGAD.
The conference praised AMISOM troop and the Somali National Army for the risks and sacrifices they have made in Somalia.
AMISOM troops have taken over security responsibilities, playing a leading role in ensuring the safety of Somali citizens for the past ten years.
