GOOBJOOG NEWS|BA’LAD: The Somali government has announced the killing of 49 Khawarij militants in a planned operation carried out by the National Army and intelligence team, alongside the country’s international security partners in Dhahagow village, in Hawadley, Middle Shabelle region.

According to the official spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Abdullah Ali Aanoud, an anti-aircraft twin-barreled autocannon (ZU), which would have used to cause damage of a great magnitude was also destroyed in the operation carried out in the farmlands near Hawadley village.

The government also claimed that one soldier was killed and three others were injured in the operation.

The recent assault on the Khawarij militants takes place two days after the group’s fighters attacked a military base in Hawadley, killing several government forces including the commander of the Somali National Army’s 3rd Battalion of the 27th Division, Col Abshir Mohamud Mohamed Shaqatey.
