Jowhar administration calls federal government to provide fire fighters
Several properties of immense value were destroyed on Saturday evening by fire that burned down a market in the centre of Jowhar district, the headquarters of Middle Shabelle region.
The fire started from a garage and immediately spread to the nearby premises as eye witness confirmed to Goobjoog FM.
There were no fire fighters to extinguish the fire that was spreading quickly to the surrounding areas but the residents tried to put out fire using water and sand.
Many families near the scene of the fire outbreak managed to save their lives and properties as the fire was increasing quickly.
Jowhar district commissioner Mohamed Amin Haji Aqiil stated that the administration has made tremendous efforts to put out the fire that gutted down the market.
He called the federal government of Somalia to provide fire engines that can enable the administration to deliver fundamental services to the inhabitants of the region.
Mr. Aqill said his administration will investigate the cause of the fire outbreak in the district and urged the public to avoid keeping flammable things like fuel in their houses.
