Jubaland Announces Grade 8 Results as 99% of Students Pass

GOOBJOOG NEWS | KISMAYO: Jubaland’s Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education has announced the results of the Grade 8 national examination for the 2025/26 academic year, with 5,720 of the 5,778 students who sat the test passing.

The ministry said the pass rate stood at 99%, while 58 students, representing about 1%, did not pass the examination.

The results also showed a strong performance by female students among the highest-ranked candidates. Of the students occupying the top 10 positions, 11 were girls compared with three boys, according to the results released by the Jubaland Examinations and Certification Office.

Education officials said the release of the results marks an important stage in assessing students’ academic performance and monitoring efforts to improve the quality of education across Jubaland.

The results provide education authorities with data that can be used to assess learning outcomes and identify areas requiring further support as students move to the next stage of their education.

The Jubaland Examinations and Certification Office has also introduced an online system through which students can check their individual examination results.

The high overall pass rate comes as education authorities across Somalia continue to focus on expanding access to education while improving examination systems, teaching quality and the reliability of academic assessments.

The results offer an important measure of performance for Jubaland at the end of primary-level education and provide a basis for planning the transition of successful students into secondary education.
