Kenya Foreign Minister Receives Somalia New Ambassador
The Kenya Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed has received Somalia’s new ambassador to Kenya Jamal Mohamed in her office before he could present his credentials to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The two discussed about the formalities and protocols of the accreditation for a new diplomat.
Though not made it public, they also discussed issues surrounding the two country’s relationship and collaborations.
The timing of the meeting has left some analysis guessing on Kenya’s view about Somalia’s announcement of initiating maritime dispute case with Kenya at the International Justice Court.
Jamal Mohamed has replaced the long serving Somali envoy to Kenya Mohamed Ali who vacated his post this year after 10 years at the helm.
The two countries had rocky diplomatic relationship over issues of maritime border, border wall, and even peace keeping mission which Kenya has troops inside Somalia.
