Al-Shabaab militants kill more than 10 people in Hiran region

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HIRAN: More than 10 people were killed and scores more injured after Al-shabaab militants attacked an area on the outskirts of Nur Dugle.

According to sources, the militants descended on the area on Thursday and brutally attacked and killed the civilians, with the majority of those killed being the elderly. 

The area MP, Yasin Abdullahi Mohamud (Yasin Farey), who is leading the operations in the Middle Shabelle region, confirmed the incident, saying the terrorists attacked the positions of the pro-government militia, where they were met with stiff resistance. 

The MP said that the terrorist attack was fuelled by the need to exact revenge on locals who have defied their ideology and resorted to taking up arms to liberate themselves from the group, which has continued to suppress them for ages.

The recent attack in Nur Dugle comes barely a month after the National Army, with assistance from locals, drove out the militants from the area, only to reemerge and carry out the macabre killings.
