Leading elder killed in the fighting against Al-Shabaab in Hiiraan region 

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOQOKORI: A prominent traditional elder, Elmi Hagar Gure, has been confirmed as one of the people killed on Thursday after Al-Shabaab militants launched an attack on Qohle village near Moqokori town in the Hiiraan region.

The elder, one of the leaders of the local militia in the region of Hiiraan, famously known as Macawisley, was caught in the deadly fighting which claimed several lives from both sides.

The death of the leading elder follows claims by Al-Shabaab that it had killed more than 20 government soldiers and members of the clan militia in Moqokori, a town recently liberated from the terrorist organization by the Somali National Forces.
