‘Multiple’ ISIS Militants Killed in Drone Strike in Bosaso-AFRICOM

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BOSASO: ‘Several’ ISIS militants were killed in an airstrike in Bosaso, Puntland, on Saturday, the U.S. Africa Command has said.

AFRICOM said in a statement that the strike killed ‘multiple’ ISIS-Somalia operatives and no civilians were harmed based on an initial assessment.

The strike took place in the southeast of the coastal city of Bosaso in Puntland. AFRICOM added that ‘ISIS-Somalia has proved both its will and capability to attack U.S. and partner forces.’

The strike comes amid heightened ground operations by Puntland security forces, which has resulted in the deaths of many ISIS militants, the destruction of hideouts, and the capture of fighters. The Puntland forces released photos on Thursday showing items seized from ISIS bases, among them 32 passports.

Officials said the passports belonged to individuals from Germany, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Tanzania, Morocco, Kenya, South Africa, Bahrain, and Tunisia—12 of them from Tanzania.
