ONLF expects positive outcomes in Asmara summit
The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) expects positive outcomes in the summit of Asmara-Eritrea with the Ethiopia government.
According to the statement, the spokesman of ONLF told Goobjoog News that the “We are now seeing positive signs in Ethiopia, and that’s why we ready to take part in the new change.”
The Eritrean government has hosted to negotiate a ceasefire agreement between the Ethiopian government and the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) on the weeks coming.
In July, the ban on ONLF and two other groups were lifted as part of the prime minister’s efforts to bring back various opposition groups into the Ethiopian politics.
The Ogaden National Liberation Front is a separatist rebel group fighting for the right to self-determination for Somalis in the Somali Region of Ethiopia
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed who, in April, the first Oromo to hold the post has introduced a number of reforms since assuming office, as well as overseen the release of jailed dissidents, the unblocking of websites and moves to liberalise the economy.
