Parliament meets to discuss effects of floods in the country
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Parliament speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe) Monday chaired a special sitting for Members of Parliament to discuss the effects of floods across the country.
During the special session attended by 143 MPs, the legislators expressed concern over the effects of flooding in the country due to the ongoing rains and called for concerted efforts by government and international humanitarian agencies to provide assistance to affected persons.
The Members of the House of the People also proposed that rescue operations for the affected citizens take precedence stressing its urgency so as to avoid further loss of lives and property.
The Speaker said that further discussions and decision-making on the proposals put forth by Members of Parliament would resume on Wednesday.
The Parliament remains steadfast in its commitment to finding effective solutions to the ongoing flood crisis, prioritizing the welfare of the Somali people.
