Talks between Deni and ex-PSF boss end in stalemate

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BOSASO:  The inaugural meeting truce between Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and the sacked PSF Director, Mohamud Osman Diyano, ended in an impasse after the two sides failed to agree on Tuesday.

Diyano, accompanied by a delegation led by King Burhan Boqor Muse, was yesterday holed up in a closed-door meeting with the Puntland President at the Presidential Palace in Bossaso.

According to reliable sources, Deni instructed Diyano to step aside in line with the November 24, 2021 decree but the embattled PSF commandant stood ground. Diyano instead asked Deni to abide by demands by his clan elders which called for a reinstatement of the former PSF commandant. 

The two sides have been at loggerheads following a move by Deni to purge the security sector in what sources said was a strategy to cement his reign in Puntland.

However, sources privy to the matter said a meeting was rescheduled for today afternoon, after an understanding could not  be reached by the two sides.
