PHOTOS: Puntland presidential election kicks off today in Garowe town

The highly expected Puntland presidential election in today expected to kick off in Garowe town the headquater of Puntland state.

Twenty-one candidates are contesting for the Puntland president seat and 11 others are contesting for the deputy president of Puntland state.

Voting is expected kicked off early today in Garowe, Puntland’s administrative capital, where 60 members of the Puntland parliament state will elect the president and the deputy of the state.

Election monitors from the federal government of Somalia, IGAD and the international community are also present in the hall.

The security of Garowe town is highly beefed up as the Puntland security forces have blocked all the main roads in the town to maintain the movement of the public and private vehicles.
