PM Barre Holds Key Meeting with Kenya’s Deputy President in Nairobi

GOOBJOOG NEWS | NAIROBI: Federal government of Somalia’s prime minister Hamza Abdi Barre Tuesday led a Somali delegation to a meeting with Kenya’s deputy president Rigathi Gachagua in Nairobi, Kenya.

The delegation is in Nairoby for the Kenya-Somalia Joint Commission for Cooperation meeting discussing the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two nations.

The two sides discussed ways of strengthening relations between the two countries among other key issues that are mutually beneficial to the two nations.

The meeting is the first official state visit that Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre made to the neighboring to Kenya, and comes as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen bilateral relations between the two neighboring nations

The visit reflects the increasing growing cooperation between the two governments, who have shared historical ties but have also experienced periodic challenges over the years.

Gachagua who led the Kenyan side while welcoming the Prime Minister said Kenya is keen to further engage in talks aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
