PM Barre Inaugurates New Road in Mogadishu, Pledges Continued Infrastructure Investment
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has inaugurated a newly constructed two-kilometre paved road in Mogadishu’s Daynile district, describing infrastructure development as key to the capital’s economic growth and modernization.
The road, built by the Banadir Regional Administration, is expected to improve transport links, ease the movement of residents and goods, and boost commercial activity in one of Mogadishu’s rapidly expanding districts.
Speaking at the inauguration, Barre said the federal government would continue investing in roads and other essential public infrastructure to improve services and support the city’s development.
“The construction of roads and public infrastructure is central to economic growth, social development and the modernization of our capital,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by Banadir Regional Governor and Mogadishu Mayor Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), Deputy Governor for Security and Politics Mohamed Ahmed Dirie (Yabooh), and Deputy Governor for Public Works Abdimajid Dahir Adan.
The project is part of a wider infrastructure programme by the Banadir Regional Administration to rehabilitate Mogadishu’s road network, improve connectivity and expand public services as the city undergoes rapid urban growth.
Improved infrastructure is expected to support business activity and enhance access to schools, healthcare and other essential services across the capital.
