Police in Somalia Arrest ‘Tik Toker’ for ‘Spreading Immorality’

GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: Police in Mogadishu have arrested a social media user accused of ‘spreading immorality’ through his social media accounts.
Police said in a statement 24 years old Ashraf Ali Nur Sahal was arrested for his actions which noted went counter to the Somali ‘moral fabric and religion.’
“The Somali police have arrested the accused Ashraf Ali Nur Sahal, 24 years old, on charges of immorality. The Somali Police Force stands to prevent any act that harms our good religion of Islam and the good behavior of the Somali people,'” the statement read in part.
Sahal is accused of committing the alleged offence through videos posted on his Tik Tok account.
Somalia announced a ban on Tik Tok last year but the ban did not take effect.
