President Bihi meets with members of the U.S. senate
GOOBJOOG NEWS/WASHINGTON: Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi, met with members of the US House of Representatives at the US Capitol Hill.
A Somaliland delegation led by President Bihi met with members of the Senate led by Senator Chris Van Hollen and Adam Smith (D-Wash.), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, U.S House of Representatives.
Lawmaker Chris Van Hollen and other officials hosted a luncheon for the Somaliland president at Capitol Hill, where they said that the Somaliland president’s visit came at the right time.
The delegation underscored Somaliland’s prominent role in the regional peace, trade and economy, as well as the recent developments in Somaliland and the wider region of Horn of Africa.
The Somaliland Head of State said he was grateful for meeting with Senator Chris, with whom they discussed U.S.- Somaliland relations.
“Great meeting with Senator Chris Van Hollen today. Thank you to the Senator for inviting our delegation to Capitol Hill and discussing ways to strengthen the U.S.-Somaliland relations, including collaboration on security and wildlife protection.”
Muse Bihi is also expected to hold separate meetings with various officials of the United States government, and had earlier met with officials from the United States Department of Defense.
