President Deni opens 46th session of Puntland parliament

The president of Somalia’s semi-autonomous state of Puntland, Saiid Abdullahi Deni has opened the 46th session of Puntland regional state Parliament in Garowe on Sunday.

The president addressed his government’s performance and criticized the federal government of Somalia on several issues that remain unresolved such as 2021 elections, review of the constitution, resource sharing and dialogue between Somalia and Somaliland.

“As a President of Puntland I declare to the Parliament and the people of Puntland that my government is ready to discuss the development of Somalia and its people, but the federal government is the one who refuses to negotiate and reach a settlement”. Said President Deni.

During the last Puntland reconciliation attended by the federal government delegation held in Garowe, Puntland president agreed to travel the capital Mogadishu to solve some of the issues but the federal government has not yet responded.
