President Mohamud Inaugurates New Interior Ministry Headquarters, Launches Environment Ministry Project
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday inaugurated the new headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, describing the facility as part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to strengthen state institutions and improve public service delivery.
Speaking during the ceremony, the president said the government is prioritizing policies aimed at reducing Somalia’s dependence on foreign assistance by promoting domestic economic growth, expanding local production, and building strong national institutions capable of supporting long-term self-reliance.
President Hassan Sheikh emphasized the importance of protecting public land, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding state property and preventing the illegal appropriation of land designated for public services and future national development.
Later, the president also laid the foundation stone for the new headquarters of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The facility is expected to support the government’s environmental protection agenda and strengthen national efforts to address the growing impacts of climate change.
