President Mohamud mourns Khadra Ige, Somali music icon, who passed away on Saturday
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has condoled with family, friends and all Somali people on the shocking death of the iconic songstress, Khadra Dahir ige, who passed away in Hargeisa, on Saturday.
According to her family, Khadra died at the Hargeisa International Hospital after battling with a long illness.
Khadra was born in 1957 in Hargeisa and joined the Waberi band in 1974 at the age of 17, where her career would blossom for the next several decades.
Khadar is said to have recorded over 2,500 songs during her career that spanned nearly five decades, making her one of the legendary singers in Somalia.
Several artists have come out to console with one of their own, including DJ Suber, Hassan Dhuhul Laabsalah and Nimo Dareen,
Khadra, who despite her glamorous career, thrived in privacy. She is survived by five children.
