President Mohamud pledges job creation, stability during meeting with youth leaders in Mogadishu

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has reiterated his commitment to creating a stable Somalia to spur economic growth and create job opportunities, especially for the youth.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with youth representatives and members of civil society in Mogadishu, President Mohamud said his administration was working to ensure Somalia is stable and conducive for exploitation of talent and resources.

He singled out the elimination of Al-Shabaab, creation of jobs, poverty reduction, and the completion of the constitutional review process as his priorities. The President also hailed the youth for their hard work, resilience and loyalty to their nation, adding that Somalia’s entry into the East African Community would expand opportunities for Somali youth ‘who are known for their hardwork and entrepreneurial spirit.’

Somalia formally joined the EAC on November 23 becoming the 8th member of the East African bloc.
