Public Works Minister Holds Consultative Meeting With SORECA To Boost Infrastructure Development

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing, Ayub Ismail Yusuf, on Wednesday held a high-level consultative meeting with the SORECA umbrella body, which brings together construction companies operating across the country, in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration in the infrastructure sector.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the Ministry and SORECA to accelerate the development of national infrastructure and urban centers, while also establishing an effective framework for coordination to support growth and regulation within the construction industry.
During the meeting, SORECA leadership outlined the federation’s role in advancing construction standards and contributing to infrastructure expansion. The Chairman of the SORECA Board, Cabdirisaaq Ali Warsame, emphasized the importance of sustained engagement with the Ministry, calling for a structured and continuous partnership to unlock the sector’s full potential.
Both sides exchanged practical insights on improving the efficiency and impact of construction activities in Somalia. Representatives from SORECA also presented their ongoing work and highlighted their contribution to urban development and the broader economic landscape.
Minister Ayub underscored the government’s commitment to working closely with private sector stakeholders, noting that several key road infrastructure projects are nearing completion and are expected to be launched soon. He said the projects will significantly improve connectivity and support economic growth.
He further stressed that sustained collaboration between the government and industry players will be critical in achieving long-term, high-quality infrastructure development across the country.
