Puntland president declines planed reconciliation meeting in Mogadishu

The President of Puntland, Saiid Abdullahi Deni officially boycotts July 5-8 reconciliation meeting between the federal government and Federal Member state leaders in Mogadishu.

The president announced the decision during his speech at an event to mark Somalia Independence Day, 1st July in northern Galkayo on Tuesday.

Deni’s announcement comes a day after the state parliament rejected the recent controversial decisions by the Lower House of the Federal Parliament approved 13 seats to Banadir region in the next Senate as Puntland described as unconditional.

Puntland authorities denied Somalia’s National Independent Election Commission announcement on election extension which was currently as scheduled in Nov 2020.
