Deni vetoes state parliament, appoints supreme court judges

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GAROWE: President Said Abdullahi Deni has has overruled the state parliament and gone ahead with the appointment of supreme court officials despite a vote against the nominations earlier made by the president.
A decree issued by the presidency noted the president had gone ahead with the appointments as follows:
Judges:
- Ahmed Mohamed Yusuf (Taaran)- Chairman of the Puntland Supreme Court.
- Nur Isse Mohamed – Deputy Chairman of the Puntland Supreme Court
- Ahmed Hadi Adan Yusuf -Judge of the Puntland Supreme Court.
- Abdiqani Diriye Awl – the Chief Justice of the Puntland State of Somalia.
- Abdinasir Abdullahi Ali – Judge of the Puntland Supreme Court.
The president also appointed two board members namely: Dahir Mohamed Nur and Hassan Abdi Elmi
The President also put two members on the pending list for approval. They are Mohamud Adan Abdulle and Abdishafi Ahmed Ali.
The state parliament had earlier rejected the nominations by 23 MPs out of 43 present while 11 voted in favour as nine abstained.
