Puntland authorities accuse presidential candidates of insecurity in Garowe
Puntland authorities have accused presidential candidates of being behind what they said was deteriorating security situation in the state capital, Garowe.
Security commander in Nugal region Muhyadin Ahmed Muse said in a statement Tuesday security guards of presidential candidates were causing security concerns in the town.
“We will not tolerate the reckless gunfire at night by security guards of presidential candidates in the town,” said Muse.
Barely two weeks ago, two Puntland presidential guards were killed by unknown gunmen in Bosaso town of Puntland region.
State presidential campaigns are ongoing in Puntland ahead of the elections slated for January 2019.
