Puntland Seizes Yemen-bound Boats

Authorities in Somalia’s semiautonomous state of Puntland have said that they have seizes four boats laden with petrol heading to Yemen.

Bosaso police chief has told the media that they acted after a lengthy investigation on the matter and they have every reason to belief that the boats were not up to no good going to Yemen carrying fuel.

On the other hand the police said that the exported fuel could raise the market prices as it creates a high demand in the market if allowed to continue.

Sources said exporting fuel to Yemen became a common practice among business people in Puntland since the war in Yemen broke out.

The war has caused economic hardships to Yemen and prevented trade going there.
