SNA foils Al-Shabaab’s plan to attack military base, kill almost 40

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BELETWEYNE: The Somali National Forces killed almost 40 members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization on Thursday morning in Hiiraan region of HirShabelle state.

SNA officials who spoke to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) said that fighting erupted after heavily armed Al-Shabaab terrorists descended on a military base at Eelqoxle area, 40 KM east of Moqokori town, but were fiercely repulsed by the gallant soldiers who were on high alert for a possible invasion.

The area is among several other places that have been liberated in the ongoing nationwide security operation targeting the group that has continued to instill fear and cause instability across the country.

Several militants are said to be surrendering voluntarily to the Somali National Army as the crackdown on the group continues unabated, according to government military officials who spoke to State Media.
