SNA Forces Foils Attempted Al-Shabaab Attack in Lower Jubba
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali National Army backed by Jubbaland forces early Thursday thwarted an attempted Al-Shabaab attack at Barsanguni village in Lower Jubba region killing several militants members.
Somali police had earlier said it has intensified security across the country ahead of the Eid-Al-Fitri celebrations to avert any possible attacks by the group against civilians and government officials.
On Monday, Somali National Army, backed by international security partners executed an airstrike near the Harardhere district in the Mudug region killing at least 50 Al-Shabaab fighters including a senior leader of the group identified as Ahmed Jiis.
Somali forces have executed several opperations resulting in liberation of various areas across the country which were previously controlled by the Al-Shabaab militants.
