SNA seize areas in Hiiran region of central Somalia

Somalia National Army backed with AMISOM have taken over areas in Jalalaqsi district of Hiraan region from the Al-Shabaab militants as confirmed by the Jalalaqsi District Commissioner Ibrahim Madoobe Nur.

Jalalaqsi district commissioner approved that the operation conducted by the Somali National Army and the AMISOM forces was successful and the troops have taken control in some areas including Buurweyn, Dibileey, Faaxaale and so many others in Jalalaqsi district of Hiran region from the Al-Shabaab terrorists.”

The operation comes after the residents of the areas have displaced from their homes regarding killings and threats by Al Shabaab group.

Somali forces supported by African Union Mission troops have increased attacks against Al-Shabaab in several areas in Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan regions.

Al-Shabab, which wants to impose its strict interpretation of Islam in Somalia, usually carry out attacks in different parts of the country to topple the Western-backed government and drive out African Union troops.
